Bjork drops new single ‘Crystalline’, remains awesome

This new Bjork single is off of her upcoming album Biophilia. The album was partially recorded on an iPad, and each song off the album will be accompanied by an app that will provide a visual, interactive experience. Sound intense? It probably will be – it’s Bjork we’re talking about.

Biophilia is due out in September of this year.

I’m 24! What about that list…?

Let’s see where we’re at…

24 Before 24

01. Buy an awesome camera

02. Renew my passport

03. Go to as many of these music festivals as possible: Coachella, Bonnaroo, Ultra, SXSW, Electric Zoo

I didn’t realize when I wrote this list that achieving #4 would have a direct impact on not finishing this list item…c’est la vie.

04. Work Full Time

I got a yob!

05. Gain complete financial independence

Student loans. Enough said.

06. Read more books

07. Find new & creative ways to spread love and appreciation to my friends

08. Explore more of Miami

09. Keep up with Yoga*

I used to go the Yoga class here at Bayfront Park, but working until 6 pm hasn’t allowed me to go to this 6 pm class :/ I’ve instead found a great Pilates class ;D

10. Explore my creative side

I took the nifty little item for #1 and made these happen.

11. Go Skydiving with my brother Oscar

12. Get a new tattoo

ouch?

In fact, I got two! :D

13. Maintain a weekly schedule

14. Make a mix for my brother Daniel

15. Go to Chicago

16. Start running*

So, I didn’t start running butttt I did start going to spinning class at the gym, huzzah!

17. Let my hair grow out

18. Expand on my writing

My original intention with this one was to push myself to practice writing. Like any skill, you only become a better writer with constant dedication to it. At this point, I write on a professional and freelance basis, leaving my words to be criticized – and strengthened – constantly.

19. Write in my journal every three days*

I need to work on this one.

Yum :D

 20. Take a cooking class

21. Abstain from shopping for a month

22. Do not smoke for a year

23. Go to a show once a month

This was my favorite list item. To enjoy all the music I did, click on over here and listen to the mix.

24. Move to Miami Beach

I’m not sure about this one. I love Miami Beach – but living there, especially when I don’t work in the area, is a huge difference.

Deadline: June 14, 2011 Today.

Although I didn’t finish each of the list items, I’m going to keep pushing myself to finish all of these list items. They may not have been completed by today, but I’ll get them done – sooner than later.

Young the Giant releases new ‘In the Open’ video, remains awesome

Young The Giant began releasing some videos via their YouTube channel as part of the ‘In The Open’ series, filmed by Alexander Shahmir. Intimate and warm, these videos show a much different version of the best songs off their self titled debut album.

They just released today for ‘Cough Syrup’:

“Will Do” Video Premiere

TV on the Radio is going to release Nine Types of Light on April 12. This song is amazing, as is this video.

New music from The Strokes: ‘Under cover of darkness’

After a seemingly endless amount of time, The Strokes have finally released a follow-up to their 2006 release First Impressions of Earth . Their new album, Angles, will be released on March 22. Their new single still retains that awesome, gritty Strokes sound we all loved – and missed.

Graffiti 6: ‘A happy accident’

Two succesful musicians, Tommy D & Jamie Scott, came together to make Graffiti 6. Each of these guys are respected musicians in their own right, with Tommy D being a producer and Jamie Scott being a singer who has toured with the likes of Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson. They have been enjoying a great buzz over in the UK since their October release of ‘Colours’, and are starting to make a name for themselves Stateside. Their album mixes in a raw funk sound with a myriad of other influences – it’s pretty hard to pinpoint their sound.

‘Stare into the Sun’ has been released over here as their first single. The playlist below is their entire album:

Three amazing remixes of ‘Sprawl II’

‘Sprawl II’ is a stand out track from Arcade Fire’s Suburbs, but these remixes are ridiculously catchy.

Let’s start off with The Hood Internet, who are known for making ridiculous mash ups. Their earlier Arcade Fire mash up was with Montell Jordan – yes, you read that correctly. For this mix, they mashed up 80s classic Blondie with ‘Sprawl II’ to create “Sprawl of Glass”

Next up is Tommie Sunshine, who infuses this track with a distinct electro flair. By far, the catchiest remix out now.

Thunderlust brings a light disco feel to this track, making it the version to dance to. Check out the remix below:

Ultra Music Festival 2011: Phase Two Announced

Phase Two Line Up

Still No Daft Punk

Official Coachella 2011 Line Up

As you may have read here, there were a plethora of rumors surrounding the line up for Coachella 2011. Some of them were spot on, but noticeably absent from the line up is Daft Punk. If Daft Punk collected money from all the shows they were rumored to be playing at … well they would have enough money to never need to actually tour again (damn).
